This is funny and sweet and sad all at the same time! And it makes me nostalgic for the old Brown Derby, where we celebrated my ordination back in '43. Karl Maulden was an actor's actor... a solid "everyman" who knew how to work that nose. Who can ever forget his Oscar winning performance, opposite Marlon Brando and Vivian Leigh, in <i>A Streetcar Named Desire?</i> Or his cringe-worthy turn as sweaty pedophile in <i>Babydoll?</i> He was not "The King of Pop," but he was someone you wanted to call "Pop."
